Inkybee tracks and updates data for blogs on a daily basis. All data is sourced from the Web and is not influenced in any way by users or authors. As such, Inkybee provides a strong, independent and objective assessment of every blog. The metrics that Inkybee presents are as follows:
Audience
This is an estimate of the potential unique viewers of a story written about by this site in the active period consisting of the days immediately following its publication. If the post has strong SEO or extended traction then its total audience could well be much higher than this. It is stated as a range because it is not possible to state an exact figure. It is derived from a blend of web metrics that have been correlated with audited offline data to reach what we consider to be a reasonably robust estimate.
Engagement
This is a calculation of the level of interaction with the blog. It is based on the average number of social media shares, likes and tweets plus the number of comments each post receives, sourced from up to 20 of the most recent posts for the blog.
Posts per Week
This is the average number of posts by the blog each week.
Days Since Last Post
This is the number of days since the blog last posted. (Note: Inkybee does not update all blogs every day. If this data looks to be out-of-date, users can update it themselves on the List Settings page.)
Inbound Links
This is the number of external hyper-links to the site. The higher the number, the better the site for SEO purposes.
This is the number of Twitter followers that the blogger has.
This is the number of Facebook friends that the blogger has.
mozRank
This is SEOmoz’s general, logarithmically scaled 10-point measure of global link authority (or popularity). It is very similar in purpose to Google’s PageRank.
Moz Page Authority
This is SEOmoz’s calculated metric for how well a given webpage is likely to rank in Google.com’s search results.
Moz Domain Authority
This is SEOmoz’s calculated metric for how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google.com’s search results.
Klout and Kred
Inkybee also presents the Klout and Kred scored for the social media accounts of bloggers.
Search Scores
The scores presented by the Inkybee Discovery Engine are calculated using this methodology;
1. Visibility
Visibility is a measure of how visible a blog is on the Internet in relation to all other blogs. Visibility equates to audience, connectedness and authority metrics.
- For example, Mashable and Huffington Post are highly visible and therefore would have the highest visibility scores.
- It is measured on a logarithmic scale from 1 to 100. This means that, in absolute terms, to increase from a score from 80 to 90 is over 1,000 times harder than to increase from 30 to 40.
2. Engagement
Engagement is a measure of the average social sharing, liking and commenting on any story on that blog.
- Measured on a logarithmic scale from 1 to 100, where the most engaged blogs on the internet have a score of 100.
3. Relevance
The relevancy score is a measure of how often your keywords are used across all the posts written by the blog. It also includes boosting for where words are found in particular fields such as the blog title or tags.
- A relevancy score of 100 means that the blog is likely to mention your keywords just about all of the time.
- A relevancy score of 50 means that in general, the blog will still mention your keywords frequently, but they may not be the main subject matter of the blog.
- Searches for niche keywords may never return high relevancy scores.
4. Overall Ranking
The Total Ranking is a blend of these 3 scores.
